Project Objectives:

Develop skills in interpersonal communication, active listening, and empathy to effectively understand student needs and concerns in an educational counselling context.

Apply knowledge of educational pathways, career options, and psychological principles relevant to counselling diverse student populations.

Demonstrate ability to design and implement tailored counselling sessions and resources that assist students in academic planning, career decision-making, and personal development.

Utilize analytical and problem-solving skills to assess student profiles, identify challenges, and recommend appropriate interventions or referrals.

Cultivate professional judgment in managing sensitive information, ethical dilemmas, and fostering inclusive environments that respect cultural and individual differences.

Enhance presentation and documentation competencies through preparing counselling reports, conducting group workshops, and communicating effectively with students, parents, and institutional stakeholders.

Employ organizational and planning abilities to manage scheduling, follow-ups, and evaluation of counselling outcomes reflective of real-world educational counselling responsibilities.

Project Tasks:

Conduct initial intake interviews with a group of simulated students presenting diverse academic, social, and personal challenges, applying active listening and empathetic communication to gather comprehensive profiles.

Analyze collected data to identify patterns or barriers impacting student success, including academic performance, motivation issues, or external factors.

Design individualized counselling plans incorporating relevant academic pathways, career guidance, and personal development strategies tailored to each student’s context.

Prepare and deliver a workshop for a mock student group focused on effective study skills, stress management, or career exploration, demonstrating clear communication and engagement techniques.

Create detailed documentation for each counselling case, including assessment summaries, intervention plans, and follow-up recommendations, ensuring confidentiality and ethical standards are maintained.

Simulate collaboration with institutional departments (e.g., academic advisors, mental health services) by drafting referral letters or coordinating joint support actions.

Reflect on challenges encountered during counselling simulations and propose improvements or alternative approaches that align with best practices and professional ethics in educational counselling.
