Project Objectives:

To design an IoT-based system for real-time monitoring and management of garbage bins in urban and semi-urban areas.

To improve efficiency in waste collection through route optimization and bin-level monitoring.

To reduce overflow, manual checking, and environmental hazards caused by unmanaged waste.

To enable data-driven decision-making for municipal authorities using smart dashboards and alerts.

To promote cleaner cities through technology-enabled waste management practices.

Project Tasks:

Conduct a literature review on smart waste management solutions and IoT applications in urban planning.

Design a system architecture using microcontrollers (e.g., Arduino/Raspberry Pi), ultrasonic sensors, GSM/Wi-Fi modules, and cloud integration.

Develop a prototype that detects garbage levels in bins and sends alerts when thresholds are exceeded.

Implement real-time tracking and data logging using cloud platforms (e.g., Firebase, ThingSpeak, or AWS IoT).

Build a web/mobile interface for authorities to view bin status, generate reports, and plan collection routes.

Integrate GPS for location tracking and optimize collection schedules using basic route algorithms.

Prepare a comprehensive project report including system flow, hardware/software used, testing data, challenges, and suggestions for city-scale deployment.
