Project Objectives:

o Medical Tourism is a dynamic revenue stream which is highly dependent on multiple factors.

o India is pushing towards strengthening its medical tourism however there are reasons due to which some institutions are taking away the better of it o There are various parameters that have to be considered while setting up an international patient division in any hospital o There are a series of standards that must be followed by hospitals opting for medical tourism.

o The aim is to understand the dynamics within the organization as well as the country’s contribution Project scope defines the boundaries of a project. Think of the scope as an imaginary box that will enclose all the project elements/activities. It not only defines what you are doing (what goes into the box), but it sets limits for what will not be done as part of the project (what doesn’t fit in the box).

o Trends and statistics o How is the shift from conventional treatment moving towards medical tourism o Top destinations and comparative with India or another country of similar economics o Pre requisites for a hospital to undertake medical tourism o How is the pricing done?

o What are the protocols? How is the management done?

o What are categories or types of surgeries that are usually paid for via MT o Cost comparison o Challenges and issues

Project Tasks:

o Basic understanding hospital management o Understanding of the Marketing department and its tasks and activities o How does the international patient handling planned?

o What are the sources? What are their standards? Which kind of services are available for international patients?

o What is the reason for an international patient to come to India or that hospital for treatment o What is the general medical tourism trend in India?

The project is to enable the student to get an overall understanding of Medical Tourism

The student must be able to provide a detailed project report involving the various aspects as defined in the charter

The student must also display some analytical skills for better understanding

Students may choose to collaborate with other fellow interns, however the report presentation shall be done individually
