Project Objectives:

o The project was decided basis the fact that pharmacy management is a critical part of daily operation in a hospital. The pharmacy department operations involve multiple activities starting from procurement, stock management, dispensing, storage, licensing, and human resource management.

o The main idea behind the project is to get a high-level understanding of Pharmacy as a core department within a hospital premise.

o The project would involve strong observation skills basis which the student would analyze daily operations. The student would also come around to understand basic financial models and stocking methods followed for specific products in a pharmacy.

o The departments process flow must be understood well to know the ways on how to conduct pharmacy operations efficiently o Understanding the basic pharmacy set up within hospital premise: Location, staffing, product range, storage system, dispensing, stock and dispensing management, distribution and indenting, budgeting for products and their stock etc.

o Identify the various level at which the supply chain of pharmaceutical medications is managed o Study of the basis of procurement – need of a particular medication (generic/brand), budgets involved, deciding factors for stock/storage of products o Understanding various licenses involved in establishment and running of a pharmacy within a hospital o Study the methods of stock management P.S: You may not be able to know the exact price of procurement, but you may attempt to understand the price range from secondary research and get it verified by your mentor/professor or hospital correspondent Your observation skills must be strong. Keep yourself up-to-date with the latest market products and use your understanding to identify items in the hospital. Ask question if need be Do not force the fellow organization to give you revenue or procurement values if not readily available and provided for your study

Project Tasks:

o Basic understanding and knowhow of stock management o Overview of types of medications stocked in a hospital set up o Observation on dispensing and stock management aspects o Analytical approach to study/evaluate the various types of drugs and their stocks The project is to enable the student to get an overall understanding of Pharmacy in a hospital set up

The student must be able to provide a detailed project report involving the various aspects as defined in the charter

The student must also display some analytical skills for better understanding

Students may choose to collaborate with other fellow interns, however the report presentation shall be done individually
