Project Objectives:

By the end of this project, students should be able to

Analyze Current Scheduling Methods – Evaluate the existing scheduling process, tools, and constraints within the production system.

Identify Inefficiencies – Recognize major bottlenecks, resource allocation issues, and delays.

Develop an Optimized Scheduling Model – Propose and implement a scheduling framework using techniques like Lean principles, Six Sigma, or AI-based scheduling tools.

Measure Impact – Compare key performance indicators such as production cycle time, machine utilization rate, and on-time order fulfillment before and after implementing the improved schedule.

Provide Actionable Recommendations – Suggest a scalable and cost-effective scheduling strategy that can be adopted by the company for long-term improvements.

Project Tasks:

Understanding the Current System

Conduct literature review on scheduling techniques.

Analyze existing production workflow & scheduling methods.

Collect data on cycle times, resource utilization, and delays.

Identifying Inefficiencies

Map current production processes & identify bottlenecks.

Perform root cause analysis using tools like 5 Whys, etc.

Analyze data to quantify inefficiencies.

Developing an Optimized Schedule

Compare scheduling models (Lean, AI-based, Heuristic).

Design an improved scheduling framework.

Simulate/test the proposed model.

4: Implementation & Evaluation Implement the new scheduling method (pilot test if possible).

Measure KPIs (cycle time, machine utilization, order completion).

Adjust based on feedback.

Documentation & Presentation

Prepare final report with findings and recommendations.

Develop & present project outcomes
