Project Objectives:

Demonstrate the ability to analyze airport workforce requirements and identify staffing needs across critical operational areas such as check-in, security coordination, baggage handling, boarding, customer service, and ground operations.

Apply workforce planning and resource allocation principles to match employee availability, skills, workload, and operational requirements with changing passenger and flight demand.

Exhibit strategic planning and decision-making competencies by designing a smart workforce allocation approach that improves operational efficiency, service quality, employee utilization, and airport performance.

Evaluate workforce performance using key metrics such as staffing utilization, passenger waiting time, task completion time, overtime requirements, absenteeism, service levels, and operational delays.

Utilize workforce management systems, spreadsheets, or analytical tools to create staff schedules, monitor workforce availability, identify staffing gaps, and support data-driven allocation decisions.

Enhance problem-solving and adaptability by developing workforce responses to peak travel periods, flight delays, cancellations, unexpected absences, passenger surges, and other operational disruptions.

Showcase teamwork and collaboration skills by coordinating workforce requirements among airport management, airline teams, security personnel, ground handling staff, customer service teams, and other operational departments.

Cultivate efficient, fair, and sustainable workforce management practices by balancing operational requirements with employee workload, skill development, safety considerations, and service standards.

Project Tasks:

Conduct an assessment of a hypothetical airport's workforce requirements by analyzing passenger volumes, flight schedules, operational activities, peak periods, employee availability, and department-specific staffing needs.

Develop a workforce allocation framework that categorizes employees according to skills, certifications, availability, experience, shift preferences, and operational responsibilities.

Create a smart workforce scheduling model using spreadsheets or workforce management tools to allocate employees across airport departments based on forecasted passenger and flight demand.

Design a real-time workforce monitoring dashboard to track staffing levels, employee assignments, workload distribution, absenteeism, overtime, operational bottlenecks, and service performance.

Simulate workforce allocation scenarios involving peak-hour passenger volumes, flight delays, cancellations, staff shortages, sudden absences, and changes in terminal activity to evaluate the effectiveness of the allocation system.

Analyze hypothetical workforce data to identify underutilized resources, staffing gaps, excessive overtime, workload imbalances, and opportunities for improving employee productivity and operational efficiency.

Evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed workforce allocation system using performance indicators such as passenger waiting time, staffing utilization, response time, service quality, employee productivity, and operational continuity.
