
The main goal of this project is to assess and propose a strategic business solution for automating attendance monitoring processes in educational and organizational settings. While the original version of the project is software-based, this MBA-oriented version reframes it through the lens of operations management, policy planning, and system optimization. Many institutions rely on inefficient manual attendance systems that result in inconsistent records, increased administrative burden, and lack of actionable data for performance evaluation. This project aims to identify business requirements, optimize workflows, and suggest improvements to attendance policies and management strategies. Students are expected to produce a detailed business plan or operational model that supports the integration of an effective attendance management process, helping organizations reduce administrative workload, improve compliance, and enhance employee or student accountability.
To complete this project successfully, students will undertake a series of business-focused tasks. These include conducting a process analysis of current attendance tracking methods in different organizations; interviewing stakeholders such as HR personnel, academic administrators, or department heads to gather requirements; benchmarking best practices in attendance management across sectors; and performing SWOT or GAP analyses to uncover inefficiencies. Students will also design non-technical process flow diagrams and decision matrices to recommend optimal attendance management practices. Further, they will draft policy guidelines for attendance logging, reporting standards, escalation mechanisms for non-compliance, and performance tracking frameworks. Additional deliverables include a cost-benefit analysis, system impact report, and strategic roadmap outlining how institutions can implement, manage, and monitor an automated attendance solution without delving into software development. The final project presentation will showcase a strategic blueprint that is adaptable across industries.
